What kind of accent - Catskills, New York?

I'm from California so it's rather difficult to travel there. Do these people have the standard new-yorker accent, or does it have a southern twist to it? Thanks

I have never heard anyone from New York who developed a southern accent.

Also, you won't get a "Brooklyn" type accent in most upstate areas either.

Like I have said before, I am from Castile, New York.Now I live in Rochester. I have been told that when I talk to family members on the phone etc. down there, that I get a "southern tier" type accent. I have been told that a lot of times so... it must be true. I can't really explain the accent to you but I guess I have it. LOL
