Fewer than 1,400 Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. customers still are without power this morning as a result of this week’s high winds.

The number of customers without power — 1,369 as of 7:30 a.m. — includes 328 customers experiencing newly reported outages from last night, RG&E spokesman Dick Marion said.

“We’re steadily working down to that zero number,” he said. “In any storm, it’s not unusual to have a few stragglers.”

RG&E has pledged to have power restored to most customers by noon today.

Outages initially affected tens of thousands of customers when a wind storm battered the region early Wednesday.

Clean-up crews are in the field today and will continue working into next week, Marion said. Aerial inspections of the region are expected to begin this morning.

There were about 35,000 out of service when mine was restored.

My power went out around 8:00am and was back on about 5:00pm.

I couldn't find the total of people that lost power. Did anyone see that anywhere? Check this pic out. This was near Latta road in Greece, NY.

Do you have a fireplace, how do you keep warm for so long. Did any pipes freeze.

It was only off from around 8am until 5pm and it wasn't very cold out that day.

I have a generator. It saved me once when my power was out for four days.
