Fewer than 1,400 Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. customers still are without power this morning as a result of this week’s high winds.
The number of customers without power — 1,369 as of 7:30 a.m. — includes 328 customers experiencing newly reported outages from last night, RG&E spokesman Dick Marion said.
“We’re steadily working down to that zero number,” he said. “In any storm, it’s not unusual to have a few stragglers.”
RG&E has pledged to have power restored to most customers by noon today.
Outages initially affected tens of thousands of customers when a wind storm battered the region early Wednesday.
Clean-up crews are in the field today and will continue working into next week, Marion said. Aerial inspections of the region are expected to begin this morning.
