(Rochester, N.Y.) - Mayor Robert Duffy is pleased with the progress of Operation Zero Tolerance.
He also praised Chief David Moore and the Rochester Police Department for their extraordinary work, saying he has noticed some change since the program started.
Mayor Duffy indicated Chief Moore and the RPD have a tough job, creating a delicate balance. And he said they are planning to do more to keep the streets safe.
"What the chief and the RPD are looking to do is try and maximize their staffing on the street," said Mayor Duffy. "And (to also) look for ways to reduce the daily overtime, and allow us to use those monies to make sure our streets are safe."
Chief Moore is expected to meet with Rochester Police Locust Club president Ron Evangelista next week. Mayor Duffy said the Rochester community has to come together and stop the loss of life.
