The first thing to do is stop by your local firehouse and talk to the firemen. Be polite and tell them you are looking to become a fireman and you don't know where to start. They will steer you in the right direction.

i am a firefighter in buffalo and the process is very similar. You need to check with the city fire deparment and take the test. then it is a waiting game.
