What is a safe and nice place in New Jersey if you don't want to stay in...

...New York City? I would rather stay in New Jersey and take the subway/train/bus into the city.
I hear it is alot more expensive and most places charge for parking...anyone heard of West Orange, NJ?

New Jersey is terrible, excluding the suburban areas with no public transportation to NYC. Why don't you want to be in New York City itself (I assume you're on vacation)?
