How do I know? What do I have to do to find out? Is it like right-click on my computer somewhere?

Found it:

Start > Right click on My Computer, go to Properties & it should be listed there. 3.06 GHz for me (with 1.96 GB of RAM... where'd that other .04 GB go?)

You may have an onboard video chip that reserves some of your system RAM for graphics processing.

I didn't realize they do that. Do they take a lot like 256MB or something? I had an extra card I stuck in one trying to get DirectX 9+ installed but it wouldn't take since that computer isn't genuine. I wonder if i would help with the overall computer speed though.

Yes. Most onboard video reserves either 128MB or 256MB of system RAM depending on the age of the system. This reserved memory can only be used by the video chip.

You should be able to disable the onboard video if you have a video card installed. This sounds like a good topic for a techtip! ;)

I agree. Time to give you your job back. :D

I was looking for the "slower than a snail" option, I didn't see it. :D

my home machine is an AMDx2 64bit 4800+, i think stock clock speed is around 2.5ghz with 2GB RAM, I have an older (asus branded) ATI x800 vid card that I think has another 128-256 on board
