Look at the lovely weather today! We were on CNN!!! My power was out FOUR TIMES!!! It's about 5 degrees here!!! I am cursing my ancestors who came here!! I have rheumatoid arthritis and I am miserable almost 8 months of the year! I want to MOVE AWAY SO BAD!!!!!!!! I cannot wait until my daughter finishes high school so we can start making plans!

Not to mention that Buffalo itself has become a large ghetto and I avoid going into the city if at all possible despite having been raised in it. Do you want to get shot, stabbed, mugged, raped, etc. take your pick. East side, West side, South Buffalo, North Buffalo, no areas are safe now from blight and rot.
The only good thing we have is the Sabres!!

Teresa...............

Have I got GREAT NEWS for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come down to good 'ole Texas! The only state that use to be it's own Country!

My hubby and I are celebrating 1st anniversary Feb 14th. I kidnapped him from Buffalo NY, where he had resided for about 4-5 years. He moved there for some girlfriend, they broke up, he stayed, he worked, he had a MAJOR stroke and wound up in a wheelchair, his roomies stole all of his stuff & ID, he was robbed by at least three of his "friends", his 'best friend' murdered his wife (big story November 2004), mugged 2x before I could get him here to Texas...............

Does my sweet Patrick miss ole Buff-a-low NY???
Not on your life!

Now, he's safe and warm in my heart and my arms. He hasn't been mugged or robbed since moving here (almost 3 yrs), loves the warmer weather, loves the TexMex cuisine, loves my family (has none of his own), and we have a great Church together too!

So, save up your money, brush up on your resume and begin shipping it out to good companies in Texas. I would suggest the Dallas/Ft. Worth areas because the weather is great, jobs are EVERYWHERE that pay decently, great shopping, entertainment galore, traffic is still very easy to get around (we do not have as strong an infrastructure as Buffalo, but the roadways are kept up and always moving). There are colleges and Universitys everywhere, land and housing is still affordable, people are friendly and the food is very diversified and yummy. If you choose Houston, you're dealing with lousy planning & zoning issues, humid weather, crime is higher. San Antonio and Austin are very expensive to live in anymore, so I'd check them out only if you can afford the housing.

Before your daughter graduates, check out the higher education opportunities here. I work for a community college, and our professors have to be PHd's for the most part. We may be 2-yr, but we are working on attaining the accredidation to be 4 yr status. We transfer to all of the major universities, too. We can work on financial aid for her, and get her going on the right road.

Don't get down. Contact our tourism agency and ask them to send you stuff. I don't think you'll be disappointed, after all I KNOW you are going through! Best to you and your daughter!

The only good thing we have is the Sabres!!

ORLY? I wouldn't say the Sabres are even decent, let alone "good" this year.

Personally, I'm thanking my relatives. They were French-Canadian, so I'd be further north if they didn't "move south" :)

What's good about Buffalo?

Besides, the highest, per capita, rate of cancer in the WORLD?
Besides, the five months of winter?
Besides, no major sports championships in our cities history?
Besides, one of the fastest shrinking metropolitan areas in the country?
Besides, one the oldest populations in the country?
Besides, one of the most depressed economies in the country?
Besides, one of the lowest standard of living in the country?
Besides, the highest tax rates in the country?

Hmmmm...

Well, there is ME, after all. That's reason enough.
