Site Upgrade

Hello,

I plan on upgrading DiscussNY to vBulletin 3.7 sometime in the next week.

Upgrading to vBulletin 3.7 will provide several new major features including social networking.

You can read about all of the new features here (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11060).

No worries, if things don't work out I'll revert back to this version of the software

OK, I can reply now, that's a start! :D

I did the upgrade to version 3.7 tonight.

There are many small fixes that I am working on.

One of the major new features is the social networking.

Check out all of the new social networking options under your control panel.

OK, I think I have everything fixed except for the site being purple in Mozilla.

Maybe it's just me and some cached goofiness.

Any other Mozilla users out there seeing purple?

Some other things to check out are the new options under quick links, including opening conatcts popup, the networking block, and the totally redesigned profile page if you click on your profile.

I have not decided what to do about this yet, but we have 2 galleries now. There is the one we always had that we have been uploading pictures to, and now you also have a personal gallery that you can choose to make public or set it private so only your contacts/friends can see. I'll probably keep both. You will also want to check your control panel (http://www.discussny.com/usercp.php) and profile and create some social groups and leave some messages for your friends on their profile page!

Looks nice Ray, I see you reverted some of templates back to vB's default hence the purpleish blue. :eek: I just installed 3.7 on a new board I'm starting I hope it's not a PITA to upgrade once it goes gold.

Yeah, I'm gonna hate the upgrade to 3.7 with my DJ board. In fact I'm having a new style designed partly so I don't have to deal with the revert issues. :eek:

Anywho you have to change the image locations in StyleVars, I believe. It's been a while since I jumped into the template system. If you'd like to zip me over a copy of your images directory (so I can get the filenames) and give me admin creditenials I'll monkey with it tonight.

It's probably cached, clear your cache or hard refresh (Ctrl + F5) your browser.

Done :) I changed the image paths under Main CSS in the style manager for the DNY style.

All I had to do was replace 'images' with 'dnystyle'.

Edited to add:

It looks like you're going to need a new button for the new photo gallery. Go to your user CP and click on Pictures & Albums you'll see what I mean it looks like a broken image who's alt text is there in place of it. Buttons are Peggy's gig though or I'd offer to make one for ya. :)

Ray when you have a chance you should to reupload DNY's favicon, it was over written and now I see the vB default. You can make one from any image here: http://www.chami.com/html-kit/services/favicon/

Thanks! I restored it from the backup tapes this morning, but I'll keep this one for my desktop too since I'm sure I'll overwrite it again next time and tapes take forever to get files from.
