Ubuntu Ubuntu! Help me brainwash people into using Linux. :D
Personally, I'd like to see more hardware type stuff as this is where I lack knowledge. I know the basics, what each part does and the like but I lost track of processor naming after Pentium 4 HT. Is it just me or are the dual core processors purposefully named in a very confusing manor?
For the general public I think tips and tweaks to speed up Vista & XP would be great.

I have a question then. I have a old pc that I want to put Linux on. Everytime I try to get the ISO of linux downloaded onto a cd it gets so far and stops. How can I correct this. I have tried Redhat and Fedura I think it is.

I think you should keep it filled with variety. The tips should cover a wide range of everything. I think it should cater to people that are practically computer illiterate all the way to the total computer geeks like Ray. :frog:
That way everyone is benefitting from it and learning new things.
Cover everything. IMO:thanks:

Not sure where it falls, but "nifty new usb stuff" is good too.
New gadgets that no one knows of but everyone will own and can't live without 2 years from now.
Or maybe that goes under stock picks. :laughing6:

It could be a number of things. Is the burn being preformed correctly? You might want to download an alternate installer for a distribution like Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com). The alternate installer is text based and frees up more RAM for the install process, where as a Live CD with an installer loads the entire operating system into RAM.
You might also want to look into xUbuntu (http://www.xubuntu.org/), which is pretty much the same as Ubuntu just less robust and is made for systems smaller amounts of RAM.

Actually I was trying to download it on my pc and burning it and I even tried on my brothers PC. You can get my address off of KDTWEB (http:/www.kidsdefenseteam.com) to mail the disk. :thanks:

I like the latest one too.
FYI, I redid the thread titles so Google has a better description of what the tips are about to work with for searches.

Hello,
What kind of tips and information are you interested in?
These are mostly related to Microsoft Windows, but can be possibly be for other technology too.
