My other project for the moment is getting my siding and gutters done.
Any tips?
One thing that I read recently while researching was that it's a good idea to have pictures taken throughout the project to document the way the house looked, the state of the house behind the current siding, and the work as it's going up in case a future purchaser of your home has any questions about what's underneath your nice new siding.

While you have the old siding off, do you need to blow in any insulation? That's the time to get it done - a quick hole, blow in, plug the hole.
Also, hide your cables (TV, internet, Dish) under the new siding. If something goes wrong with them, you can replace them but if all is good, you won't have those cables all over the outside of your house.

I'm not sure about the insulation.
After getting the windows done, and the blow in insulation in the attic, my house was much warmer and less drafty than previous years.

Are you putting in the type of gutters that you don't need to clean out. I think they call them seamless gutters.

The project estimate is triple what I was expecting.
I need to get a few more estimates and stuff and come up with a game plan.

found something to post about!
I sided my house last year, and the estimates are through the roof for what I did it for myself for. I had estimates as high as 15k for the siding. I stripped my house down to the planking, wrapped and insulated everything, I also replaced all my windows including a 1000 dining room window. I was fortunate to have a friend to loan me his brake for the window trim and soffits. I would probably never tackle a project like this again. I did 16 square plus 1 square of the cedar shake vinyl. House looks great I spent a tad under 10k that was with doing all the work myself. Very rewarding but I spent almost every waking minute away from work on the house.
