recently, my desktop was running slow. I could not type with out it dealying on the screen, everything took forever to open up and close and also react to my commands.

So after talking with a friend he suggested I check for dust in the fan.

well it was caked with dust and I cleaned it off.

I started back up and now it is running perfect.

I know it is not the best tech info, but it may help someone.

In all honesty the reboot probably helped more than the dusting.

I'd expect the dusting to help with overheating issues such as random lockups and blue screens.

Here's some pictures of my old desktop, all caked up with dust and cigarette smoke, I couldn't even get it all clean because it was caked on. It still runs like a champ but sounds like an airplane taking off when it's under any kind of stress.

As you can see I neglected it for years. That's why I made a rule no smoking around my new computer but I broke that in about two weeks. I'll just be sure to clean it out every month or so. I passed the old one down to mom who just plays games on it so there's no real worry about it. I'm still considering buying new fans and maybe throwing in some new RAM.
