Chroniton writes "The BBC has a story that many Slashdot geeks will be happy to hear: the caffeine from a cup of coffee a day can help prevent Dementia, by blocking the damage of cholesterol. (At least in rabbits) This is in addition to the already-known protection against Alzheimer's Disease. More research is needed to test the effect on humans."Read more of this story (http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/04/03/0345237&from=rss) at Slashdot.

Eric and I can offer to be used as study objects as long as I get endless supplies of Dunkin' and he gets Timmy Ho's. :)

Moderation. A protected brain does you no good if your heart explodes.

You are so paranoid. Do you have any idea how much you would have to drink for your heart to explode? Shheeesh!! Don't be hatin' because Eric and I didn't invite you to join our study. :laughing6:

I have a funny story about MT. Dew. Well it wasn't funny at the time. My son came to me when he was 14 and said, "Mom I think my asthma is coming back, I can't breathe to well" So I took him to the doctor and they check it and it seemed fine. They did a EKG and his heart rate was TERRIBLE. So they sent him to a cardiologist. They had him do stress test and checked did a ultrasound of his heart. Did everything they could think of and the test came out fine. Then they ask him if he has been drinking alot of caffiene. Here he was hiding cases of MT. Dew in his room and drinking nothing but. Come to find out all the MT. Dew was sending his heart rate into a crazy tail spin. So his prognosis to him and I quote. "Don't do the Dew" He had to cleanse himself of caffiene for awhile to get his heart rate back to where it wasn't jumping out of his skin.

Not drinking soda protects your teeth.
Never did like it. I'll stick to my coffee.
