Hello!
Does anyone know what exactly DOS checking on real estate salesperson
application as far as info provided.Do they really checking info such criminal history or just taking applicant world for it?

Federal because you are dealing with the public and also children.

The reason I know this is because when I worked for a shrink we had to do a eval on a sex offender who wanted to work in real estate. We had to say yes or no if he was rehabilitated. YEAH right, a sex offender rehabilitated. :rolleyes:

Also of course they have to check for sex offenders and they are on special website.....if you would work for DOS and knew real deal that would be really helpful.
The reason that i am asking is freind of mine had a felony conviction and served frobation in federal court and after that when he aaplied for his real estate licence in that state they couldnt see a conviction on him because it was federal, he brought state clearance with no criminal record there...

I don't know what to say but most jobs these days like what your friend is trying to get they do a federal background check. I would say come clean in the application because it will come out eventually.

he just trying to get a real estate licence in NY , no jobs offers,contractor.
It is really hectic if you would have to go through getting a certificate of good standing and sometimes it takes about a year and more and there is no garantee of getting it.
The reason that he need real estate company beacuse he is trying to open branch of managment company here and he is already the owner of it so this is just formality not like he is going to check himself
