I just realized in the 11th hour that I need an ssl certificate on my server to get my live pay with paypal to work.. are all ssl certificates made equal? Is this one of those 'you get what you pay for' or are they all pretty much the same?

I have never bought one for myself, but I've installed a bunch at work.
Looks like the Godaddy Deluxe SSL (https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/ssl/ssl.asp?ci=9173) is probably what you want to get.
The only reason I mention Godaddy is because I have most of my domains there now.

I never installed one but I know with Dreamworks, they gave me the works which included a SSL. I got everything for free because of being non profit. What I do with it, I haven't a clue.

I use GoDaddy ones. They put the little lock in the browser & allow you to use https. That's all that really matters.

Yea, I just bought one from godaddy since they are cheap plus I get a discount on everything for owning way too many domain names LOL But OMG how the heck do you install this, generate this or anything... I am so paranoid that I'll mess this up then be stuck with a useless one. anyone have a good resource for SSL for Dummies anywhere?? I think I know why I never used these before now LOL

I found this, not sure if it will help or not.
To install an SSL certificate:
Click on the Install an SSL Certificate and Setup the Domain link in the SSL/TLS menu.
Enter the domain, user name, and IP address for the certificate in the Domain, User, and IP Address fields.
Click on the Fetch button to paste the .key and .crt files for the domain into the available display spaces, if they are currently on your server. Otherwise, copy and paste the .key and .crt files into the available display areas.
Note: If you generated the certificate using WebHost Manager, the certificate files will be available. Refer to Generating an SSL certificate (http://support.imhosted.com/docs/whm/generateSSLcertifcate.htm) for more information.
Paste the ca bundle for the certificate in the bottom display area, if required.
Click on the Do it button.

Actually my server people are doing the install for me, there great like that, I'm more freaked on how to generate the ssl which you gave a great link for but on godady I started going through the process, enter name, address etc but then it said something like make the csr and I was lost, I thought I would just have to enter the domain name its for and it would generate itself but there wasn't a button like that available and and nowhere to enter the domin which was weird I thought.. The last thing I need to do is mess up the whole certificate making it useless.
