Going for a few days in early June...probably a few days hiking/camping and some more just hanging out.

lake placid area has the biggest and most scenic mountains....here are some of my favorites:
mt marcy--biggest mtn in the dacks
cascade mountain--one of the easier of the 46ers with great views
algonquin--2nd highest, great views
ampersand mtn---great views of lakes and mtns
phelps mtn--up close view of mt marcy
gothics--may very well be the best view in all the adirondacks

Just did Wright peak on memorial day weekend. A nice day hike, great 360 view and if you're feeling ambitious, Algonquin is .9 miles from it. You can chill and camp at the ADK loj in a campsite, a leanto or even at the loj, which is by far the highest profile and reputable campsite in the high peak region. The trail head literally starts at the parking lot of the ADK loj.

I think Mount Jo is the best short hike because you get the sense of a real ADK mountain hike, but its simple and has a fantastic view of Algonquin and Marcy. It is on Heart Lake, just next to the ADK Loj.
