A few months ago, I was fishing up in the Adirondacks, northern New York, near Alexandria Bay. While I was fishing off the dock, I caught a small, 8 in, large mouth bass, or what I was a bass. When I went to retrieve the hook from it's mouth, my fingers encountered about thirty or so needle like teeth on the the fish's upper lip. They weren't deep enough to do any damage. The lake is standard with perch, pike, large and small (rare) mouth bass, sunnies, blue gills, and suposedly walleye and tiger muskie. I have no idea what the fish is but it looked just like a large mouth. What is it?
I know it wasnt a snake head, i am smart. and sorry i don't have a pic but i was just doing some lazzy doc fishing before dinner. But it looked exactly like a large mutn but had teeth that I had NEVER SEEN on a large mouth before
I also caught either it or it's friends several times of the same dock over the next coulpe days. AND IT WAS NOT, I REPEAT, NOT A SNAKEHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could have possibly been one of those snakeheads [very unwanted] If so they will take over where ever they are ,,, Pull up snakehead fish on the Internet to see a picture of them so you can see if it is what you caught ... If it is, you need to report the catch to the Fish an wildlife dept of your state !!!!

Not enough detail in the description other than more sharp teeth than you expected? No photo link? A little help here mate?

Could it be the Bowfin? a NY native with "... a large mouth loaded with pointed teeth..."

Bowfin, Grindl, Dogfish, same fish different names.
Let's look @ the primary attributes to describe a dogfish.
A.) Dorsal fin starts about where you would expect, but continues all the way back to where it wraps right on around into the tail.
B.) Has larger scales than a bass, almost like a carp.
C.) Has lots (and I mean LOTS) of sharp tiny teeth for shredding prey.
D.) The head & gill plates are much like a northern's head (Strong thick scull, and almost armor plated gill covers that are sharp like a northern pike.).
E.) Will definitely attack (w/fervor) any style baits/lures that bass will, and they will also put up one heck of a fight, with repeated strong runs, jumps, and rolls.
F.) Coloring very similar to bass changing off to a mottled brown, or gray.
Sounds like you hooked a Dogfish?
You need to make sure that any abrasions to you, caused from teeth or gills, get scrubbed out really well as to avoid infection.
Goodluck & Good fishing

I heard there is polluted water in new york and maybe the fish grew larger teeth due to radioactivity? i don't know.
