Come to Utah. The wages are awful, but you'll learn there are many dumpsters with food kept fresh by the chilled winter air here.

Isn't adult life wonderful? Not like MTV shows it.

none of those are particularly close to Rockland County (but it really depends on where you live)....try Rent.com, they will have rentals in many price ranges...check the Pennysaver- studios are generally cheap (er)...

also- when you see a listing in a price range you can afford, mapquest from your current address to the new town.

good luck!

unfortunatelly you did not tell us your age.
Somehow I have the feeling, you are younger then 18.
Sorry if I am wrong, it just sounds like that to me.

To move out, you need a job, and again, it seems to me you have no job.

So my suggestion is.
1) grow up (if not over 18)
2) get a job
3) and then move out

I'm not sure that your really ready to be on your own. For one thing Rockland county is NORTH of New York City not south and if you don't want to live in Long Island and the city why did you but them down?? How will you support you self in order to be able to afford an apartment or a room, plus food, carfare, and other living expenses. Maybe what you need to do is find other family members or friends that you can stay with until you're able to get enough money to live on your own. And if you're under the age of 18 it will be impossible for you to be on your own unless you go to court and have yourself declared an emancipated minor. That might than make you eligible for assistance from social service, which might include money for college, if you don't get a decent education you won't get very far. So there are a lot of things that you have to think about before you jump out into the world unprepared for what you'll have to deal with.
