Live in the Hudson valley. I want to know of good vacation areas within several hours driving distance (No more than 5-7 hours).

Wildwood, New Jersey. Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Seaside Heights/Park, New Jersey.

I you have kids, Id suggest taking a vacation to Seaside Heights or Wildwood because the boardwalk has a bunch of arcades and stands that they would like. Long beach Island is more like something for people into the nightlife.

Newport, RI is really nice....its small but there is enough to keep you busy for several days. It's very pretty, some good restaurants, its right along the water...you can tour mansions, spend the day at the beach or on a boat.

Boston is always fun...plenty of activities and sites to see there. If you are going in the summer, Cape Cod is beautiful.

One of my favorite places to visit is Vermont. Even if you go in the summer, you can rent a cabin on a lake...and get some pretty good deals since its not ski season.

You can find tons of stuff in NY even....the finger lakes, lake placid, niagara falls.

Plus, there is always Canadain cites ...Montreal is close.

Check out the book: 1000 Places to See Before you Die in the U.S. and Canada....they have a ton of cool places to visit.
