Can A Teenage Girl 15 have an abortion In New York without Parental Consent or Legal

I 'm just wondering if a Young 15 year old girl in New York State can have an abortiion without parental consent? The reason is an abortion is considered an operation. And Anything can go wrong. And parents would know a minors medical history better then the minor themselves.

In NY State (I live here), yes she can.

NY State (as well as other states) does not have Parental Consent laws. We are among the most liberal of states.

All of these people that are telling you "No" have no idea what they are talking about and haven't bothered to look anything up.

Just Google it for your own piece of mind. But I live here, so trust me on this.

Most states that offer abortions, at 15 you do not need parental consent.

if you go to Planned Parenthood, you will not have to provide parental consent. I live in NYand i believe NY does not have a law that would require you to tell your parents;

However if you are not a resident of NY and just want to go to NY to get an abortion, it doesnt work that way. You need to put down the address of an actual resident in the state, because the laws are differnt for each state and teens often have the procedure at a reduced price. I dont not know if they check the address but I would put down a real person/address just in case but for the most part they will not question you too much.

Also, if you plan on using your insurance to cover the operation, it will show up on your bill which is sent to your home address and your parents will find out that way; so most people decide to pay cash or ask if there is a way to not have it appear on the insurance.

In NYS minors can obtain Abortion services without Parental Consent or Notification. This applies to both medical/chemical and surgical abortions. Abortion is not always an operation because of recent advancement in medicine one can have a purely medical abortion without the need for surgery. I.E. RU 486, the "Abortion" pill. The type of abortion obtained is usually determined by the stage of pregnancy at the time it is to be performed. And parents do do not always know a minors medical history better, however, medical records would be obtained by the doctor performing the abortion. Also in NYS only licensed doctors are allowed to perform both surgical and medical abortions.
