Anyone have any suggestions? We've been to Niagara Falls and we're thinking about the Catskills or the Adirondacks. Just wondering if anyone else honeymooned there and do you have any suggestions as to what to see/do and where to eat and where to stay? We will be going there in early October. Thank you!

That's why there are "travel agents"
Go talk to one - they can give you other suggestions.

In the Catskills, you might try someplace in Monticello or Liberty. The catskills used to be full of all inclusive resorts. Don't know what happened to them since my parents generation has died off. Beautiful little areas with many bungalow colonies and luxury hotels. Very nice hasidic communities too. In the adairondecks try Lake George. I went there a long time ago and enjoyed it.

That's a great vacationing area for the fall. I only drive through the Castskills on my way to my parent's in MA...so I've never actually stayed anywhere overnight. But it is gorgeous. If you're dead set on NY, I say go for it...but I'd also suggest Vermont. It's breath-taking in the fall!

I've never been, but my boss goes to the Adirondacks every year on vacation and shows me her pics every year. It looks amazing! Also, she is a world traveler and still chooses to go here every year. For detailed reviews on lodging, restaurants try tripadvisor.com. It is reviews from people who have actually been to the places.

I live in a suburb of Niagara Falls. I wouldn't come here again. Niagara Falls is the armpit of America.

Fort George is beautiful though!!!

Early October is perfect Adirondacks time. I can suggest some very explicit places, foliage should be at or maybe just past its peak, most tourists are done for the season and the outlet malls may still be open, if that matters.

The areas and routes I would suggest are dependent on just where you are beginning, but you almost have to stop in the Glens Falls - Lake George area for a couple of days, then north to the Ausable River area. There are, or were, cabins right on the river there.

Contact me through my profile with a starting point and I'll give a suggested route with a few alternates. My wife and I went that way on our honeymoon "several" years ago.
