Hi all, I am from Essex in the United Kingdom.

I am looking for helpful hints tips etc anything on New York City for Christmas and New Year period. Us and friends would like to holiday there and we are looking into places to stay etc. Flights seem ok but it is hard getting accommodation that isn't overpriced.

Anything you can recommend would be most helpful!

If I was to stay in nyc I would choose the Milford Plaza hotel. It is only a block away from times square and very centrally located. Of course getting a place for new years eve is not easy to do at all. It takes year in advance for reservations at most places.
