Bro Ho,

What do you think about a week long hike some time?

The New York part of the Appalachian Trail (http://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail.asp?trailid=HGN094-064) takes 7-10 days to hike.

You wanted epic adventures! :)

This 2,155 mile National scenic trail from Maine to Georgia cuts across the southeast corner of New York State, rolling along ridges and dipping to roads. The New York leg takes an average of seven to ten days to complete. Special Attractions: vista, side trails. low-elevation mixed forests, historic stone walls, wildflowers, fall foliage. Hikers need to work out the logistics of carrying and obtaining adequate food and supplies, plan what do in case of an emergency, and arrange for transportation at the end of the trail. Expect rocky, difficult conditions, strong map and compass skills ease travel.

My son hiked that for a week or two. He liked it. He took nothing but trailmix, granola bars, water and slept on the ground. One night he climbed in a cave to sleep and he had to keep throwing his food to the rats to keep the rats off him. He said he was a week into the hiking and got hungry for a McDonalds burger and hiked back out and got one and then hiked back in. I think he just hiked in VA App trails. He said he ran across a few people that were hiking the whole distance. Glad he told me after he got back that he did that by himself, I would of been worried.

Cool Stephen King book about the Appalachian Trails, and a little girl that got lost in them. I normally can't read Stephen King novels, but I couldn't put this one down.

as a teenager it was always a secret dream of mine to just take off and hike the AT. At 31 years old, its never going to happen. I did however drive into PA yesterday morning, and notice signs for the AT on rt. 80 near the Delaware Water Gap. Hopefully I can convince my fiance' to come out and do some day hiking soon.
