The Cost of War (http://www.nationalpriorities.org/costofwar_home) site was entertaining for a few minutes while I clicked around some different options. Something didn't seem quite right hough since I tried dumping some nuclear weapons in favor of health care provided to the people and only 1800 people received it. Or are they trying to say health care costs now rival that of developing nuclear weapons? :eek:

Raymond, maybe you put in for just one town? I got a much higher number for NYS.
Although health care costs seem high now, they are going to have to go much higher in order to take care of the returning vets and their families who suffer too.
War is really a horrible problem any way you look at it.

::soapbox:: THE COST OF WAR
Not only are we still at war, but deeper than ever, the Iraq war passed a five-year landmark in March, longer than any other American conflict except the Vietnam War. But the cost now looks like it will exceed all wars except World War II — with a price tag that could near $3 trillion. (HOW MUCH IS $3 TRILLION DOLLARS) *(SOURCE DOD)
The Iraq war has already cost twice as much, in inflation-adjusted dollars, as World War I, and 10 times as much as the Persian Gulf war, according to a new book by Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz and Harvard professor Linda Bilmes. This is in addition, of course, to the more than 4,000 plus American lives lost, and over 30,000 wounded .
Living is a small Northern Community we have lost several of our local "defenders of freedom", we stood in front of the Legion Post, out on the street, proudly holding our flags, Saluting as the deceased slowly went by, went to the cemetary and felt the shiver go up our spine at the playing of taps and jumped during the gunshots honoring the departed, and afterwards we met with the familys at the legion for a luncheon.
There was no ARGUMENT or DISCUSSION on if we should be in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Korea, or Germany, doesn't matter, what matters is the PRAYERS, SUPPORT and LOVE we can give to those serving and those coming home !

Isn't it amazing that most people you talk to are against the war, yet we're still there. So much for democracy.
Yeah, I know... it's more complicated than that, but really, if so many people feel one way on this topic, why are we following the lead of a couple of madmen who lost their election by 500,00 votes (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0876793.html)?
