I'm about to be out of contract with my cell phone. We've been with Verizon forever. Its convenient since all my friends are also with them so we can call each other free, as well as my husband. But looking they seem to not be the best price around, just curious how other companies reception and all that is. Not sure I would change but it nice to know what cell phone companies work well in upstate NY.
Next I'll have to finally figure out which new phone to get...I hate my current one LOL!

I have sprint. The customer service is spotty at times, but if you find a good radio shack person they'll slap sprint around for you. I generally don't have reception problems in New York unless I'm in the middle of nowhere.

Verizon. I've never had any problems with them, except that once in a while, calls will go directly to vm without the cell phone ever ringing. Aside from that, it's OK.

Yup! I've had that too, also have had txt messages take hours to get receiving sometimes. Very annoying!
I saw an add last night for Sprint, cool phone and amazing data fees. I think right now its like $20 more a month to get our data feeds, on top of our already pricey payments.
No matter if I stay with Verizon or switch to sprint, I HAVE to have a qwerty key pad this time. I am a txt msg freak LOL!
So I'm down to these 3 phones to decide on:

I have Verizon too. I have that same problem. The phone doesn't ring and then the next thing I know my phone says missed call and I am getting an alert that I have a Vm. :stompfoot: I just started my contract a few months ago but I am going to break it. It will cost around 200 to do so but I will be saving $50 a month on the new plan I will be on so after 4 months, that savings will be in my pocket.

It may not be $200. The longer you keep your contract, the more that goes down.
BTW - Sprint has a great deal - 300 minutes for $30 / month that you can share. All you have to do is tell them you want to cancel, then you can get that as an offer. It's their begging attempt to keep you as a customer.

I use Tracfone (www.tracfone.com), it's prepaid and great for me. When someone annoying gets my number I just buy a new phone for $15 and get a new number. ;)
I realize most people these days want smart phones that go online and all that but I'm perfectly happy with a phone I can use just to talk for a few minutes once in a while and send a few text messages.

I like to complain about being too 'reachable with smartphones...but then I always like having all the features too. I just like to complain no matter what I guess LOL

My family has been using Cingular "NOW AT&T" for years. We have been very satisfied. There rollover minutes are great, there are few "dead zones" and the phone replacements are good when you contract is up you get a great discount for the upgraded phone....and if you loose or break it, they have excellent insurance. We have found their salepeople to be extremely helpful when we walk in at their shop in the mall.

Well, today I was finally out of contract with Verizon, but decided to stay with them and bought the LG Voyager as my new phone. I love it! Too fun and the touch screen plus full keyboard...I'm so excited!
