Well, 1/2 power. During the thunderstorm around 1/2 of my breakers lost power. They did not trip. Resetting did not fix it. RGE has already been out and they say it's not a problem on their end. So I'm told there are 2 phases for power coming into a house and I lost a phase, but the damage is somewhere inside the house. Super! :( But maybe I will get some interesting pictures to post later today. I have some extension cords run to keep my computer up so I can work from home. I'm also told (wish I knew more for myself about home repair sorts of things...) that's it's generally bad since I'll have potential for some unbalanced voltages hitting me. I figure if something bad happens hopefully I'll just lose a $5 power strip or the UPS the computer is on.

Wow that is so weird and totally annoying! So how did RGE leave it with you? That you have to hire an electrician to figure it out or are they on the case still? I hate power companies!!

Yeah. I called a few electricians during the night. One answered and said call RGE first since if it's their problem it's free for them to find it and fix it. Turns out it's inside my house, so an electrician is going to need to come out this afternoon. No fridge or stove right now. I got a bunch of sausages and hamburgers last night with some lemonade and put it in a cooler. At least I'll have some fun doing a little grilling for dinner.

What time? :hungry:
PS - can you please put "-Raymond" in your signature, so you don't have to type it each time? That bugs me.

I'd keep typing it and there would be 2 of them. What I tried doing was not typing it at all, but I can't help myself. I do the same thing with my e-mails. Between 5-6pm, and some geocaching afterward.

The electrician came and said that the guys that did the siding put a nail through the electical box inside the garage. There was a nail right through the box and one of the wires and one of the wires finally fried...Jasmine said she saw a bright flash of light by the garage door when it happened.
This one deserves two smilies. :stompfoot:

I am with Eric, good thing a fire didn't happen. Is the siding company going to be liable.

That's the plan! I left a voice mail for American Custom (http://www.discussny.com/showthread.php?t=4160) a little after 5:00pm. Here are the pictures.

The electrician also said to make sure and check my next electric bill.
It's likely there was a small arc going in there and counting against my usage until it exploded.

I am glad there was no fire. My hairdresser had her dryer sitting on the electrical cord and the vibration put wear and tear on the cord and her house burnt down because of the bad cord. Everyone got out alive thank goodness, her house was destroyed by fire with the hour. This was a couple years ago.

I gave RG&E a meter read this morning. No problem, I'm right where they expected me to be. I did have to increase my budget plan again to get back on track though. In past summers I did not try to use the air conditioner. D'oh!
