What is the most bizarre, useless, or totally shocking law that you have heard of (and know to be true) ?

I was just researching this kind of thing for a new site I'm working on. Here is a few I found at dumblaws.com

Women may go topless in public, providing it is not being used as a business.

You may not smoke within 100 feet of the entrance to a public building.

It is illegal for a woman to be on the street wearing “body hugging clothing.

Citizens may not greet each other by “putting one’s thumb to the nose and wiggling the fingers”.

A fine of $25 can be levied for flirting.

It is against the law to throw a ball at someone’s head for fun.

The penalty for jumping off a building is death.

New Yorkers cannot dissolve a marriage for irreconcilable differences, unless they both agree to it.

A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his/her pocket.

While riding in an elevator, one must talk to no one, and fold his hands while looking toward the door.

The smoking one is something I agree with because I do not want to walk into a building and have someone hovered at the door smoking and I have to breathe in the smoke.

The ice cream one is a stupid law, but whats the harm if they want to have ice cream melting in their pocket. :rofl:

I smoke 1 or 2 cigarrets a day ,Cant stand Others Smoke. Bring on all anti smoking Rules.
1 thing is So nice to do your shopping without Some one standing in Q smoking ,or going to bioscope ;-)
and not seing the movie through a Haze .

darn as soon as I saw this thread I thought of the ice cream one in the back pocket. I read it before somewhere. Was waiting to get home to google it...oh well. That was my fave dumb one.

I can't verify it for true, but I remember years ago reading that it was a law in Rochester, NY that firefighters must be wearing a tie when reporting for duty.

I think its stupid that supermarkets can't sell wine in NYS or sell beer until noon on a Sunday.

I knew it!...I am NOT against alcolol use for adults..where did you ever get that notion?...lol...Pot is categorized in with cigarettes as a mild hallucinogen (LSD is a heavy one)..alcohol is closer to narcotics...don't see any comparison to those what-so-ever...pot is not physically addictive, people who are mentally addicted to pot are probably OCD types..., alcohol is mentally as well as physically addictive and more people die from its' withdrawal effects than all other legal or illegal drugs combined...

Maybe I'll start a thread so I can take another bashing from the government approved societal normpeople that keep us..uh, can't use that word here.(The "I" word):censored1:so I'll just say: un-informed..and no I don't smoke pot now, I did, but funny that when I quit it was no big deal..egads huh?

I voted "no" but not because of the leagality of it. Just because I'm 95% sure that I'm allergic to it. Everytime I am near someone that is smoking or has smoked it recently, I get a wicked headache instantly, my throat gets raw, and I feel really ill.
