MOON SAND (http://www.moonsandkits.com/) I bought moon sand for my girls ages 9 and 10 for Christmas. It isn't very expensive and it is lots of fun to play with. (yes, I love playing with it together with them :)) It doesn't dry out like play doh and it molds easily.
It comes in lots of fun colors and the clean up isn't too bad either. As we play with it more and more time goes by, we may find some things we don't like about it. If we do, we will keep you posted. So far, it's a hit.

I bought a Nascar Champions Race set for my 9 year old daughter. After getting the whole thing put together.....it doesn't work. The wheels will spin if you lift the back of the car up but as soon as you let go, they won't budge. It acts as though the cars are too heavy.

It cost around $70.00 after taxes where I bought it. I called the company for support on December 22 and still haven't heard back from them. It is going back into the box and back to the store. I am going to have to spend the extra money apparently to buy a really good one that works. :(

My daughter was in tears when it wouldn't work. Not my idea of an awesome Christmas present like it was supposed to be. :( It broke my heart to see her in tears over a Christmas present that wouldn't work right. That was her "big" present this year.
