My mom & dad have really become serious about this "getting a girl puppy" thing and they want to know how it is monthly.
They said they don't care about how much to buy it for [thank goodness!], just how much they have to pay for it monthly.
thanks for ur help, bileila7

It will costs each month to feed the puppy, treats, collar, leash, vitamins, HeartguardPlus, it has to be put on them to keep the dog from getting heart-worms and hookworms, this can only be bought from your vet......they are a once a month chewable, and they come in a 6mos packet, $29.00 and then your set on Heartguard for 6mos...

then there's the puppy shots, the puppy should have the beginning of its puppy shots, then you will need to keep on the puppy shots till finished, then the adult shots, worming, kennel cough med, which is every 6 mos, and then the every six months booster for Parvo, then the yearly shots like rabies, distemper...

to begin with, your looking at around $200-300.00 to get the puppy set up correctly, to keep her healthy, a dogs health cannot be neglected....if you let the shots go, your dog could die........just take good care of your dog, and it will take care of you with more love than you can handle....

It is not a cheap thing, you have to be able to give a dog a proper, caring, loving, healthy home for life.

Merry Christmas

Call a vet, one you will be using all the time, it is best to stay with the same vet, he gets to know your dog, and that is very good.....he will tell you what it will costs to begin with for the shots and worming......

It really depend on the size and breed of dog that you choose. If you pay for a puppy then you need to make sure that the breeder gave him/her all of their vaccinations, and dewormed the puppy. Check the laws in your state. In California all breeders are obligated by law to guarantee the health of any puppy they sale. The guarantee covers 2 weeks against viral infections and 1 year against anything congenital. The monthly cost for a female dog is no greater than a male. All pets should be spay/neutered and you can also check in your area but most states have a program where you can get a voucher to cover the cost of the procedure. The yearly booster vaccines can be purchased from a grooming shop or feed store in your area for you to administer yourself. In California Rabies has to administered by a vet. You also want to make sure that you feed a quality dog food like Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul that does not contain Corn, Soy, unnatural preservatives. By feeding a quality food you will save vet cost down the line. Corn and Soy are the worst things you can feed your pet. If you read the ingredients on the back of the package you will see what is truly in your pets food. Do not go by the picture or the advertising. Do your homework and love and care for your pet and the cost will be minimal and the rewards extreme.
