Default Tricking kids into eating healthy

5p's thread about PB made me think of this: I'm sure some of you with kids have tried tricking your kids into eating vegetables in just about any way possible. One of the ways my mom would trick me back in the day was ants on a log: Celery turned on it's back with the inside filled with peanut butter as the log and raisins for the ants. It may gross out the girls but always worked for me.

What other healthy tricks do you parents have up your sleeves?

Mom used to get me to eat broccoli by telling me I'd grow up to be big and strong like Popeye which is odd because Popeye ate spinach, it never occurred to me until I was old, lol. To this day I love broccoli.

I've always liked fruits and vegetables it was just a matter of getting me to eat them over sugar filled junk like fruit rollups, poptarts, etc.

I put a can of spinach in my meatloaf you can't taste it and it makes it really moist. When Jasmine was a baby she needed lots of fiber so I used to grind up kidney beans in the food processor with cream cheese and put it on her bagels.

I made bread for my birds and put veggies and bird food all grinded up in it. Plus different types of nuts. I froze it in small sections so I can take it out and give to them in small portions. I put it all in food processor for fine mixture then mixed it in the bread.

Don't have to trick them. There are plenty of healthy things that taste good if made right or in a fun way. You're the parents. Don't buy excessive amounts of junk food and there won't be a problem.

Put melted cheese on brocolli. Not great every night for old farts but fine for kids.

Not so much of a problem here my kids do actually like a lot of fruits and vegetables but for Alicia our 4 yr old sometimes it's tough just to get her to eat so we sometimes have to come up with silly figures or games to get her to eat it works and I feel better knowing that SOMEthing went into her tiny belly.

Anyone else believe in no junk food or soda before lunch?
