What does twitter do.

Besides puzzling me, I don't know..

Honestly I'm not sure it kind of a new social networking thing. Most call it micro-blogging, basically you 'tweet' your status every so often. It can be anything from I'm having breakfast to replies to other people's tweets. I describe it as mass instant messaging delayed. Basically you're mass IM'ing whom ever 'follows' (listens) you when you tweet. I liken tweeting to updating your facebook status only the people on twitter seem to update their status much more frequently.

I've played around with it before and just started using it again this past week for the most part I think it's boring. No one's life, even my own, is so important to me that I want to know every inane detail of what they're doing every minute of the day.

Marketers are saying it's a great way for building relationships and in some ways it is but just as much as Facebook, IMHO. I see lots of spammers that just post links to their websites in an effort to drive traffic but then again that could be the circle I run with.

Twitter's been news worthy a couple of times. They say that news of the Mubai attacks moved faster through twitter than conventional news.

I use it occasionally to ask a question. I have a couple hundred people "following" me, and if I have a question, I just throw it out there & get a few answers in minutes.

I must have a Twitter account because I got an email today saying that someone was following me. I didn't even know I signed up. Guess I will have to check it out and see what it is about.
